Watch | The Legendary Performance From The“Nigerian Idol” Season 6 Top 11 Contestants

Nigerian Idol season 6 held its first live show over the weekend and it was Amaziiiinnnggggg!!! The live show featured the top 11 contestants to decide the next sets of who will compete in the finals. The contestants performed their personal favourites and many of the performances got ecstatic reviews from judges Seyi Shay, DJ Sose and Obi Asika. Watch the performances below: Akunna performed -  “Wombo Lombo”  After pulling off an amazing cover of “Joromi” in Theatre Week, Akunna raised the bar with her performance of this classic released in 1996 from the Grammy award winner, Angélique Kidjo.  Beyonce – ‘Agolo’ Beyonce served us rich melodies as did justice to this popular classic released in 1994 from the iconic Angélique Kidjo. Faith - "Joromi" Faith had us swaying along with his melodious highlife buzz to this timeless classic by Sir Victor Uwaifo. Emmanuel performed -  “Send Down the Rain” Emmanuel celebrated the life of Majek Fashek and brought down the house with his amazing performance of the award-winning song ‘Send down the Rain’ from his 1988 album “Prisoner of Conscience“. Dotun - “Malaika” Nothing screams showstopper than this amazing performance by Dotun. His rendition of Miriam Makeba’s 1974 hit was thrilling to watch. Daniel -  “I’ve Got You Babe”  Vocal versatility like no other! Daniel took to the stage and rendered this hit by Lucky Dube. Comfort – “Olufunmi” Comfort came correct with authentic Naija vibes and reminded us why we had this R&B song by Styl Plus song on repeat all those years ago. Clinton performed “Sweet Mother”  Clinton put us all in our feels with his emotionally rich rendition of this classic hit by Prince Nico Mbarga dedicated to mothers. Faith Mac– “Africa”  Faith Mac ignited the spirit of Africa with her electrifying rendition of Salif Keita’s hit song from the album “Folon” released in 1995. Francis– “Remember Me”  A classic performance for a classic song! Francis digs deep and performs this emotional song by Lucky Dube’s “Remember Me“, from his 1989 album “Prisoner” in the most heartfelt manner. Kingdom performed – “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” Kingdom turned the stage to his jungle and dominated it as he delivered a song originally written by Solomon Linda as “Mbube” and later recorded by Lebo M for the soundtrack album of the 1994 Disney animated film, “The Lion King“. Davido Gifts Daughter Range Rover Evoque As Birthday Present

Imade Adeleke, Afrobeats superstar Davido’s first child with his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu. Will be  turn ing 6 on the 15th of May and already has a luxury car to celebrate her new age. Davido never misses an opportunity to spoil his children, and birthday came early for little princess Adeleke. The classy Range Rover Evoque is one of the most luxurious gifts the 5-year-old received for her birthday. The 'La La' crooner took to his official Instagram account to show off the early birthday present he got for his princess, Imade. Davido gifted Imade a brand new Ranger Rover that’s so expensive, it made fans drool. Davido's 'E Choke' Gets Twitter Emoji

On May 5th, Afrobeats music superstar, Davido posted a tweet confirming that Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey has caught the ‘E choke’ bug and has duly honored the trending slang by creating an emoji for the catchphrase on the bird app.  'E choke' has been used by celebrities on different social media platforms. Fans of Davido will get an emoji of the singer holding onto his neck anytime they use the slang with a hashtag on the platform.  Even @jack know say #echoke — Davido (@davido) May 5, 2021 Fans and followers of the Afrobeats music superstar have begun to react to the Twitter emoji for ‘E choke’ and it’s currently a trending topic in Nigeria.

Burna Boy’s “Ye” Now Certified Gold in the US

African giant and Grammy award winner, Burna Boy‘s single “Ye” has received a Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Gold plaque.  it’s now certified Gold in the US. “Sex Over Love” – Blaqbonez Tells it All in this Episode of “Rubbin’ Minds”

Nigerian rapper, Emeka Akumefule, known professionally as Blaqbonez, had a chitchat with media personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on the latest episode of Rubbin Minds on Channels Television. In this episode of “Rubbin’ Minds“,  Blaqbonez sits with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu to discuss his new album “Sex Over Love“, his journey to the rap industry, relationships and so much more. The rapper revealed that he has settled things with his dad who apologized for not being in his life earlier, following a viral tweet he made. According to him, his new album “is me just preaching against what society considers the norm. I’m basically being a rebel and I feel like there are people out there that relate to what I’m saying.” He also says that monogamy for him is unrealistic. “I can get married, but everybody has to know that I cannot be exclusive.” “I think the lockdown brought out the star or the creative genius inside me. Just being at home, not doing anything made me realize how much power social media has and how talented I am at creating and dominating,” Blaqbonez says about becoming an internet sensation during the lockdown. On when he realized music was going to be a thing, he says, It was just a challenge. It wasn’t natural like the way a lot of people say their stories. My cousin heard a 14-year-old on the radio. His name was Lil H. Because I used to yab Nigerian rappers, at that time, that Nigerian rappers don’t know how to rap. So she was like “look at this 14-year-old boy doing this… all you know how to do is insult Nigerian rappers”. And I was like, “this thing is not hard”. I went upstairs, wrote my first rap… and It was so much fun to rap it so I just kept on doing it. I just kept on writing, and before I knew it, I was going to the studio to put down my rap. On how he got signed to Chocolate City, Blaqbonez disclosed that he met MI through rapper, AQ and the African rapper No. 1 developed an interest in his rap skills and subsequently signed him to the label. Chidinma Ekile Switches From Secular To Gospel Music

Chidinma Ekile, known professionally as Chidinma has announced she has left secular music to become a Soldier for Jesus Christ.  The MTN Project Fame (West Africa) season three winner, Chidinma Ekile made the switch from secular to gospel music as she celebrates her 30th birthday.The singer has been off the radar for a while. Her fans and music lovers inquired about her whereabouts. However, she has made a grand return to the music scene but this time around as a gospel singer.  Chidinma took to her Instagram page on Sunday the 2nd of May, which is also her birthday to announce that she is now a minister of the gospel and a servant of Jesus Christ. Laycon Drops New Album "...Shall We Begin..."

Nigerian singer, rapper and songwriter Olamilekan Moshood Agbeleshe, known professionally as Laycon,  has released his latest body of work for the year a new album titled “...Shall We Begin...” and you should totally listen to it. The 12 track album is the BBNaija season five winner’s first since leaving the reality show. It opens with the track “And So She Spoke” and closes with “And So They Spoke“. “Shall We Begin” houses Laycon’s previously released single “Fall For Me” featuring YKB. The album also features Mayorkun on “Verified“, Joeboy on “Kele“, Terri on “Jeje” and Teni on “Want You Back“.
