March 8th witnesses the celebration of International Women’s Day, a momentous day dedicated to honouring the social, economic, cultural, political achievements of women, all across the world.

A day annually commemorated, acknowledging the paramount contribution and essence of women, has seen various modes of celebration.  Every year, there is a theme that is set to address some important issues in society. For this year, the theme is #choosetochallenge. 

A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we are all responsible for our own thoughts and actions. Women are to rise to challenge all the things hindering their growth. Everyone has a call to challenge and fight against gender bias and inequality. We should all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Among which, inspirational songs attributed to female power and has been one of the most legit modes adopted to mark women empowerment.  There are so many ways to #choosetochallenge and music is a part. Talented Tanzanian Artiste Zuchu titled this dope song Wana off her EP tagged “I Am Zuchu".

7. Teni: Uyo Meyo

Is an Afro-pop-inspired track recorded with an Ondo dialect in Yoruba and English. The song won Best Recording of the Year at The Headies 2019.
